Angoleiros do Sertão – nucleus Berlin – is a Capoeira Angola group based in Neukölln, Germany. The original school was founded by the capoeira master Mestre Cláudio Costa from Feira de Santana in the state of Bahia in Brazil. The tradition of the school dates from the 80’s. Today the school consists of many nucleus worldwide in countries like Colombia, USA, Finland, England, Germany and in a lot of cities in Brazil.
Berlin’s nucleus is first organized in 2015 by Tito Casal who is a long time student and “Treinel” of Mestre Claudio in Brazil and now continues his teachings giving workshops and regular weekly classes. They focus on the body movement, music, rituals and philosophy that express the traditional Capoeira Angola dance, fight and theatricality.
Samba Rural is another artistic expression through music and dance that comes from the Afro-Brasilian culture which is very important and cherished element in our capoeira school. Thus we often include it in our weekly practice.
